The libraries subscribe to WVReads, an OverDrive e-Media Catalog Consortium from which patrons may select e-materials to borrow for a specified period of time.

Brooke County Public Libraries Digital WVReads Collection. Users can check out e-Items using a valid Brooke County Library card and download them from the Libby App or access them online.

eMedia is purchased with funds from the Brooke County Commission as a result of a current levy.

Disappointed that you do not see a title in a format that you would like to borrow? We know it can be frustrating; however, we cannot circulate eBooks quite like a physical book in the library.

OverDrive Help, Visit WVReads, on the top right-hand corner click on Help. From there you will be able to see videos, guides on how to download the Libby App to your certain device, and much more.

eReaders

Currently, there are 10 devices that can be checked out and 2 devices (1 at each location) that can be used in-house only.

Appointments will be made to fill out/go over the necessary paperwork and instructions needed to successfully check out a tablet.

The purchase of the devices was made possible thanks to a grant from the West Virginia Library Commission.

BOOK CLUB

Join us either in-house at our Main Location or virtually via a Zoom Link while our Book Club Posse discusses a book on the last Thursday of every month at 5pm (we do not meet in December, and often November's has to be moved to the week before).

Rules and Regulations

By participating in the BCPL’s Book Club you understand the following:

  1. The book that the club reads will NOT be processed within our system.

  2. Books will be signed out to a member and that data is kept on file.

  3. Once a book club member receives a copy of the book of the month, that individual will be responsible for the book just like a book from the BCPL collection. A Signature Agreement will be signed.

  4. If the book is damaged, lost, or stolen within your procession, you will be responsible for the cost of the replacement and it will be billed through our automation system or by invoice if you do not have a card.

  5. If you cannot make it to a meeting, please return the book on or before the date of the meeting. Most books must be packed and shipped back to the WVLC immediately after our meeting in order for them to be sent to the next library. If the book is not returned in a timely manner without any notification to the Director and we have already shipped the books back, the patron will be responsible for 3.50 for us to ship the book.

  6. Last but not least enjoy yourselves. This is a time for a group of people to come together and discuss some of the past, present, and future of literature with fellow book lovers.

To join us more, find us on our Facebook group and also join us via our BookClubs account by searching for our Club by name: BCPL's Book Club Posse. This has a free app and will also allow you to keep up with times, locations, and Zoom links.
