The West Virginia Library Association is hosting a legislative breakfast in the rotunda of the State Capital on the morning of Friday, January 26, 2024 starting at 8:30 a.m.

This is the perfect opportunity annually for our Director to meet up with our county and state representatives and have a chat over topics impacting libraries in our state.

2024 Legislative Goals & Discussion Topics

  • Increase Grants to Public Libraries by $2 million. The budget amount for public libraries has not increased in more than a decade while operational costs have soared.

  • One time appropriation of $5 million to the Library Facilities Fund to help with deferred maintenance costs of public buildings.

Speedy and safe trip for our Director and other Library Personnel from around the State as they head down for tomorrow's activities. A huge thank you to the Friends of the BCPL who sponsor and pay for the Director to attend!
