BCPL Resume Tip #47

Welcome back, resume writers and job seekers! We hopefully have another helpful hint to spruce up your resume and let it speak for you.

Resume Tip #47 - Paint a Picture

A lot of people don't know where to start with a resume, especially job history. And an online or paper template can only tell you so much. So, keep in mind, you want to paint a picture of yourself. A potential employer should have an excellent idea of what your days were like at previous jobs, as well as of course where you went to school and what certifications you may have.

Start at the beginning of your work day and think back through tasks to the end, and you'll find you have a solid description of your job duties and tasks. Did you open or close the building yourself? Were you responsible for security in any way? What was the first thing you did at work everyday? And so on.

Don't get too bogged down in the details, but most every task assigned to you through the day was important. Sometimes even the computer programs or equipment you operated.

We hope you will check back next month and next year for more resume help! And keep in mind your local library is a great place to work on your job search.
