Friends of Library 2026 Message

Dear Friends of Brooke County Libraries:

We are 82 members strong, but we need more useful hands and creative minds as we plan events to support our Brooke County Libraries in 2026-27.  Thomas Edison said, “If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves”. We need all in our membership to be a member who can give a little of their time and talents to help us fulfill our goals and activities this year.

Your ongoing support continues to make it possible to help provide the Brooke County Libraries with many of their annual expenses:

·         Wellsburg Library Movie License

·         Follansbee Library Movie License

·         1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program (program bags)

·         Summer Reading Program Stuff-a-Plush Project

·         Wowbrary Newsletter Subscription

·         Historical Portrayal for Spring Meeting

Our annual fundraisers, Santa and Easter Bunny Letters, Membership Drive, and Festival of Wreaths/ Bazaar are helping to sustain our support for the Libraries needs listed above, but costs for the above and other programs are increasing.  We need more help with these projects.

This year’s spring historical portrayal event being planned is in honor of the 250^th Anniversary of our country.  We will present a portrayal of Colonel Ruby Bradley.  Colonel Bradley is the most decorated woman in American military history.  She was a native of Spencer West Virginia. The event will take place In the River Room on Thursday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. There will be light refreshments, a short business, and election of officers. This will only take about 10 minutes and the program will proceed.

Please consider renewing your membership or becoming a new Friends member of the Brooke County Libraries.  Also enclosed is a volunteer form.  If you would like to serve as an officer or participate on any of the projects listed, please send the “how can I help” form with your Friends membership envelope. 

As a reminder, the Annual Membership Drive has started. If you are not a current member and/or did not get your membership envelope, stop in to grab one to fill out, or visit the friends' site to print one and send it in.
