Last Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Director and a board member handed out a few hundred books, 140+ gun locks courtesy of the VA Vets, and much more at the Brooke County Schools Back-to-School Bash. According to the BOE, there were well over 700 in attendance!

If you missed it, don't worry! The BOE Office still has items. Request what you need from your student's school, and the school will contact the office to have items sent to the school. That way you don't have to rush to grab items!

Keep in mind a few things: as all local schools come back from summer break, the libraries of Brooke County have many things to help you! Even for those who are schooled at home!

eBooks/eAudiobooks/eMagazines

  • All Brooke County residents have access to the LIBBY app. So if your student already has a library card, they do not need to use SORA. All students aged 5 and up are eligible for a library card. You must have a parent/guardian present for them to obtain

    one.

Do you need a library card?

  • It is very easy to obtain a library card. Adults need their ID. If it has expired and/or is incorrect, another 1-2 proofs of address are required.
