Welcome back to our library exploration posts!
We're sharing little spots in our libraries you might not know about or might not appreciate. This June, we're showcasing our Honor Shelves. No, the shelves are not in honor of anyone or anything. They work on the honor system, so let's learn a little more about them.

The honor shelves allow people to "check out" items and not have to use a library card. These items are borrowed with no time limit! Just let the workers at the desk know you're taking them as you head out the door so they can keep a tally.

Honor books and items don't have a limit. So you can stuff a bag or two with paperbacks for vacation or a trip or a long weekend, and then you can bring them back a few at a time or when you've tried them all. We have a variety of authors and series available, from the popular to the unusual. Some of our deleted titles also end up on the honor shelves.

The honor shelves are a place where you may make an unexpected find too. These books and items are not catalouged, so you do have to search by hand. You never know when you might find a rare title you've been searching for!

Our Wellsburg (BCPL) honor shelf also has two shelves of board games and puzzles. These are perfect for families or friend groups that want to fill a rainy weekend with indoor fun. Please treat them gently of course, and we do not guarantee all contents (such as paper sheets) are in high supply, but we're excited to share another collection.
So next time you stop in, take a look at the honor shelves!
