Let's get into our March 2026 book and a recipe idae - Midnight Beef from Isis Crawford's mystery A Catered Murder.


Ingredients -

3 lbs beef tenderloin

1/2 to 3/4 cup back peppercorns

1 1/2 tablespoons rosemary

Preferably fresh oil

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard


(servies 1/3 pound meat per person)


Instructions-

  1. Preheat to 500.

  2. Form the meat into a roll and tie with string.

  3. Crush peppercorns with a rolling pin or bottle.

  4. Finely chop rosemary.

  5. Mix with peppecorns.

  6. Paint or rub oil into the meat.

  7. Coat with mustard.

  8. Roll meat in the pepper and herb mix.

  9. Place on rack in rosting pan and in oven.

  10. Reduce heat to 350 and roast until done.

  11. Let rest for 10 minutes and carve.


Meat should be 120-145 degrees when finished baking.
