BCPL Sept. 2026 Inside the Library

Welcome back to another edition of Inside the Library!

We're continuing to highlight sections and resources available at Brooke County Public Library (Wellsburg) and Follansbee Public Library that you may have missed. The library is so much more than just checking out a book from the first shelft you see.

Do you ever need to use a desktop computer but don't have one at home these days? Maybe your printer is on the fritz or you ran out of that last Microsoft Office free trial at the wrong moment?

We are here to help!

Our computer sections aren't going as strong as they were 10-15 years ago, but we still have a small area at both locations dedicated to self-service computer tasks. You can check your email, order from Amazon, print a shipping label or school paper, or many things in between!

Please remember to stop at the front desk to sign in. We do still require (in most cases) a library card or some form of identification to use the computers. This is just for our protection and yours should something go wrong.

At Follansbee, the computers have a dedicated room that also houses our card catalogue computer, the laminator, and a few other resources. It's usually quiet so if you need to complete a job application, a test, or do a research project, it's a great spot for working on it!

We have a few available extras as well like free use of our Microsoft office subscriptions, black and white printing (for a small fee), headphones available upon request, some large print keyboards for those who left their reading glasses at home, and more.

So feel free to stop into either location and use one of our in-house patron computers any day we're open! We're here to help too with small struggles like printing issues or assistance, sending an email attachment, or downloading a document to your personal flashdrive.
