3 Stars - I attempted the audiobook first but I highly recommend just reading this one. It's an easy and fast read that works better as the essay which was its original format. Being that Woolf is a fiction writer she branches into a fictional scene frequently before hopping back out. It's an interesting way to write but confusing. The concept here is no less relevant today and important. People are entitled to their own space and some need it more than others. But you do have to earn it or get lucky enough to come upon the money for it. Space and physical freedon are seldom free. And women are forced to make choices in life that men are not, and it puts them a disadvantage. For example, having children is a physical choice for a woman and less so for a man, and therefore her daily well being and career, etc. is affected. Fortunately in today's world women don't face some of the barriers of this time period, but it's vital to acknowledge that and protect our right to autonomy while making it worth the effort as well.
