3 Stars - Over a decade ago, I poured over Catherine Coulter's historical romances and they will always be the bar for me. So I was excited with this new release. Many of the excellent staples were included. Her romantic writing style always tugs at the heart strings. The connection between the two characters is strong even with the Victorian setting. But the intensity her old novels had was lacking here. This was more like a cozy historical mystery with the marriage driving part of the plot. The side characters were fun most of the time but hard to keep track of. At least Alex/Graham and Cam were a divine and adorable couple. Would I continue reading or recommend her new historicals verses the old ones? Probably not. But admittedly, this likely fit the modern writing scene much more than her ones from 30 years ago.
