3 Stars - A really quick cozy mystery featuring unlucky Lexy Baker, a brave baker and determined heroine and amateur sleuth of course. She's got a crew of senior sleuths to assist including her plucky grandma. And she's constantly dodging the efforts of the real detectives. I was new to this series and had a hard time catching up. Surprisingly, because these are short books and sorta slow paced too. Why on earth Dobbs thought it was a good idea to have her dating a detective named Jack and semi-pursued by another detective named Jake is beyond me. The comedic crime solvers usually have a bit clearer motivation too. But this was really cute. While not a must read series, it's sure to entertain lovers of the light mystery reads.
