The Brooke County Public Libraries worked with multiple entities over the years in order to make sure that Dolly Parton Imagination Library was brought back to Brooke County. In Early 2020, we kicked off access to the program in the ZIP code of 26070 with the funding help of the local ELK's Chapter in Wellsburg (1553). Our kick-off event was unfortunately canceled due to COVID, and we just kept on reading.
Each year we also celebrate the Dolly Parton Read Aloud Day. For the first year ever, we decided to start a new tradition. A Dual program celebrating both Dolly Day Read Aloud and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Brooke County.
Without the support for DPIL of Brooke County from the Brooke County Schools, it would not be the stable program for our county that it is today.
Keep a lookout, as we will host this program each year now as a dual program and welcome all who would like to join! Thank you to those families who took a chance and celebrated with us. We know that with school start times, times are busy, and we appreciate you all in making this a success.
Some of our littles were not able to be in the photo due to timing, but otherwise, all had fun! Two in attendance won a DPIL-themed mug, and each child took home a packet for further learning and fun! DPIL-themed mugs, stickers, and bookmarks are courtesy of funds from the Brooke County Schools.
